Never neglect diabetic eye disease

Diabetes is mainly responsible for blindness among people between the age of 20 to 75. I don’t know that until one of my friends started experiencing bad eye sight after getting diabetes.
The very first question that came in my mind was how high blood sugar level can cause diabetic eye disease? Basically, high sugar level has an effect on the lenses, as it makes the lenses swell and thereby cause blurred vision and different kinds of eye ailments.

  Diabetic retinopathy

 Any ailment or disorder of retina due to diabetes is called diabetic retinopathy. One of them is retinopathy. Here, the capillaries situated behind the eyes initially swell and then form sacks, which cause blockage in the blood vessels. The scariest one is proliferative retinopathy. Here the blood vessels get completely closed. Hence Routine eye exam is necessary.

 Cataracts

 Cataracts are quite common for both normal people and diabetics, but here also, the possibility of getting cataracts is more in diabetics than other people. People getting cataracts will suffer from blurred vision as the lenses are clouded. Our eye lenses work just like a camera which emphasize on the images and surely this type of clouding before the lenses causes impaired focusing and thereby results in blurred vision.

Glaucoma

 One of the main diabetic eye issues is glaucoma. In every human being, the eye produces water like fluid known as aqueous humor to offer sufficient nutrition for lenses and the cornea. The aqueous humor leaves the yes through a drainage system and thereby enters the bloodstream. In patients suffering from glaucoma, the drainage system gets blocked and the fluid thereby enhances the pressure in the eye. This may also lead to a situation where you may need multifocal lens implants. However, the best solution is to maintain a regular blood sugar level for a healthy and happy life.
